Sean Payton was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1997 to 2021, finishing his career as the head coach of the New Orleans Saints. Over his twenty-four years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 222-162-1. He was the head coach of the New Orleans Saints from 2006 until the 2021 season, during which time the Saints went 152-89-0. During his career he was a head coach for fifteen seasons. In 2009, the Saints won the Super Bowl against the Indianapolis Colts 31-17. He retired from the Saints on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Payton stepped down from his role with the Saints after the conclusion of the 2021 season.
